Existential Sauna by Andreas

Existential Sauna evenings have been hosted in Berlin since early 2025, although the concept has a much longer history. The aim is to offer sauna enthusiasts an authentic Finnish sauna and Löyly experience—sweating and breathing together in silence. Each session begins and ends with a guided meditation conducted in English.

The first location was Bude in Köpenick – a small community sauna next to the forest, offering meditation saunas on Thursdays and Fridays. Due to limited seating, each evening can accommodate only six guests, creating an intimate and peaceful atmosphere.

Occasionally, the sessions take place aboard Finnfloat on Lake Müggelsee. These gatherings primarily welcome returning guests who have previously attended evenings at Bude.

In spring 2026, the first Daylong Sauna Retreat was held in Rüdersdorf, featuring two meditation saunas along with various forms of meditation and mindful movement.

There is currently no social media or website for Existential Sauna. Returning participants are invited to join a private Signal group to stay connected and informed on upcoming events.

About Andreas

Born in Sweden to a Finnish family, Andreas first experienced the sauna at just nine weeks old—a common start in Finland. With sauna being a natural part of life, he was drawn to sharing Finnish sauna culture and using the sauna as a space for introducing people to meditation.

In addition to hosting Existential Sauna evenings and occasionally guesting at other saunas to share the Löyly, Andreas also works on sauna design and related projects.
